Andy

Andy came to us from a terrible cruelty & neglect case here in Michigan where felony charges were filed against the rescue caring for him. Andy was left on a vacant property by the rescue without proper shelter, water, regular feeding, proper bedding, or any medical care. Forced to live in inches of cold mud and waste through the winter. Despite what Andy has been through, he is an incredibly sweet boy and loves to snuggle.

Andy currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $35 a month for exclusive updates on Andy.

Arthur

Arthur was headed to “fattening facility” when he saved his own life by jumping from the transport truck. He was found on the road by a wonderful family that scooped him up and reached out to rescues for assistance. Chicagoland Pig Rescue stepped up with guidance and took little Arthur in while searching for permanent sanctuary for Arthur, which he’s found here at NSLB.

Arthur currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $35 a month for exclusive updates on Arthur.

Belly

Belly came to us when he was about 5 months old. He was the runt of his litter and wasn’t catching up, so the farmer decided it was best to feed him to the wildlife. A local couple caught wind of the plan and stepped in to secure his safety while searching for sanctuary. Belly is a gentle giant. He loves snuggles & belly rubs, and will happily lay down anywhere for them.

Belly currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $35 a month for exclusive updates on Belly.

Benny

Benny was a much-loved pet along with his friends Randall, Wilbur, & Daisy. Unfortunately, Benny’s human mom had multiple events happen leading to the need to find them a new home. Benny gave us a scare in 2022 with a sand blockage that landed him in the hospital for a few weeks. He’s recovered but has some residual tummy issues that require daily supplements. Benny is a sweet boy who loves his friends dearly, he is especially close with Randall. He enjoys attention, treats, and playing in the mud.

Benny needs a sponsor! Sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Benny.

Bentley

Bentley was part of a horrible hoarding case along with his friends, Potato, Willie, Waylon, and Mercer. When Animal Control originally got involved, there were over 90 pigs on the small property. A sign for “free pigs” ended up in the front yard and its unknown where most of them landed. By the time we got there, there were 10 pigs left. We took the 5 remaining boys and another sanctuary came the next day to get the 5 remaining girls. Bentley is a sweet boy with his familiars but will challenge those he does not know.

Bentley currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Bentley.

Boaris

Boaris was turned loose in to a field with his family Miracle, Buttercup, & SweetPea, in the middle of the winter when his humans were no longer able to feed them. Unfortunately, there’s not much opportunity for foraging or rooting during Michigan winters. Survival is near impossible without food, water, or shelter for domesticated pets. It took a couple of days, but we finally got Boaris! He is a bit shy upon meeting, but an incredibly sweet guy. He is a fantastic dad that continues to care and lookout for his 2 daughters along with his partner.

Boaris currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Boaris.

Buttercup

Buttercup was turned loose in to a field with her sister SweetPea, Mother Miracle, and Father Boaris, in the middle of the winter when their humans were no longer able to feed them. Unfortunately, there’s not much opportunity for foraging or rooting during Michigan winters. Survival is near impossible without food, water, or shelter for domesticated pets. It was fortunate that Mom & Sisters were caught on the 1st day of trying. Buttercup is one our friendliest residents and will approach anyone if it could mean a belly rub.

Buttercup needs a sponsor! Sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Buttercup.

Carlos aka Big Carlos is one of our residents from Dominion Sanctuary. Carlos underwent entropion eye surgery while at Dominion. Prior to his arrival in to rescue he was used to breed. He is the father to Mowgli & Moana. He can be a bit shy but is one of the sweetest boys when he warms up.

Carol is one of our residents from Dominion Sanctuary. Big Charlotte

Big Charlotte came to us from a terrible cruelty & neglect case here in Michigan where felony charges were filed against the rescue caring for her. Charlotte was left on a vacant property by the rescue without proper shelter, water, regular feeding, proper bedding, or any medical care. Forced to live in inches of cold mud and waste through the winter. Despite what Big Charlotte has been through, she is an incredibly sweet girl and loves to snuggle. She is incredibly social, the 1st to greet you at or on the fence.

Big Charlotte currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with her, you may also sign up for just $35 a month for exclusive updates on Big Charlotte.

Char aka Little Charlotte

Charlotte came to us a piglet in need of urgent surgery and other medical care. Estimated at about 6 months old, she was already on her 4th home. Charlotte received the care, stability, & love that she needed. She is a happy, healthy girl and is absolutely thriving. She loves spending her days out grazing on the grass.

Charlotte currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with her, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Charlotte.

Chetta

Chetta and his 4 friends, Theodore, Joey, Jim, & Sunshine were part of case where 10 pigs were set for slaughter. These 5 boys were bonded so we scrambled to make a home here to keep them together. They were confined to tiny stalls living in several inches of their own excrement. No longer allowed to go outside as they continuously broke through the fence and rooted up property. Plagued by raging hormones they were easily overexcited. Chetta is the most social of these 5 boys and will happily follow you around just to see what’s going on. Bonus if it involves breaks for ear scratches and belly rubs.

Chetta currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $35 a month for exclusive updates on Chetta.

Chief

Chief came into our care through an Animal Control seizure case a few counties over. He was so obese he could barely move. Every step he took he stepped on his belly which drug on the ground. His hooves were terribly overgrown. He was blind and deaf from the excess fat. His living conditions were deplorable, and his physical condition was heartbreaking. A couple of good hoof trims have helped a bit with his stability. He has been on a weight loss program and is making great progress. His belly no longer drags on the ground, and he has regained a significant amount of his hearing. He still has a long way to go, but we think he is just as excited about all of his milestones as we are.

Chief currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Chief.

Chopper

Chopper’s human mom was unfortunately going through some changes in life and needed to find him a new place to live. He is incredibly sweet with his familiars but loves to play boss if given the opportunity. He’s one of our more enthusiastic greeters.

Chopper currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Chopper.

Daisy

Daisy was a much-loved pet along with her friends Randall, Benny, & Wilbur. Unfortunately, Daisy’s human mom had multiple events happen leading to the need to find them a new home. Daisy is now spayed and sweet as can be. She is still on a weight loss program to help restore some mechanical blindness. Daisy will happily come trotting up for some ear & belly scratches.

Daisy needs a sponsor! Sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Daisy.

Ezra

Ezra was found wandering some railroad tracks in the middle of a brutally cold February. A local sanctuary was contacted for assistance, but they were not set up for pigs. They networked his safety and placement, and he made his way to NSLB. Ezra was severely emaciated with every bone poking out of his tiny frail body. He had a severe case of pneumonia, was riddled with parasites, and was unable to regulate his body temperature due to being so ill. His unstable condition landed him a stay at the university hospital. Ezra does have some permanent lung damage from being sick and on his own but is thriving in every other way.

Ezra currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $35 a month for exclusive updates on Ezra.

Gracie

Gracie was a loved house companion that enjoyed the comforts of sleeping in her human’s bed, snuggles, leisurely outdoor time, proper diet, & healthy snacks. Gracie’s human passed away unexpectedly & she did not get a soft landing. She ended up with a relative with a drug problem who kept Gracie in a cage & fed her dog food. The relative eventually listed Gracie for sale on Christmas Eve & she had to be gone that day. Another relative stepped in and scooped Gracie up fearing that Gracie would be used in the local dogfighting ring. However, that relative was not a long-term option with no pig experience, 7 large breed dogs & a large family in very small living quarters. They reached out to their local Humane Society who immediately brought Gracie into safety. Unfortunately, the Humane Society wasn’t set up for pigs. So, while this was a temporary soft landing in a foster setting, she needed a permanent soft landing, and we are that for her.

Gracie currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with her, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Gracie.

Hemlock

Hemlock joined us from Pigsburgh Squealers. He joined us as an intended friend for Penelope. While Penelope wasn’t open to the friendship, Hemi made friends with everyone else here. He is THE sweetest resident we have. He is inclusive and loving of all of our residents and welcomes human visitors with a smile and a belly up (for rubs of course). He loves to spend the warm days in the wallow and will happily share his mud with you.

Hemlock currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $30 a month for exclusive updates on Hemlock.

Jerry

Jerry is one of our residents from Dominion Sanctuary. He was an “oops” rooster which happens frequently with farm stores & hatcheries. Most of these roosters are not as lucky as Jerry. We don’t know what trauma Jerry experienced before finding sanctuary, but he is very defensive & protective. We are working to show him he is safe and hope one day he’ll feel comfortable letting his guard down a little.

Jerry currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $10 a month for exclusive updates on Jerry.

Jim

Jim and his 4 friends, Theodore, Joey, Chetta, & Sunshine were part of case where 10 pigs were set for slaughter. These 5 boys were bonded so we scrambled to make a home here to keep them together. They were confined to tiny stalls living in several inches of their own excrement. No longer allowed to go outside as they continuously broke through the fence and rooted up property. Plagued by raging hormones they were easily overexcited. Jim is sweet & caring. He’s been observed making beds for his friends and then covering them up with straw. If a human is out & about, he must touch you.

Joey

Joey and his 4 friends, Theodore, Jim, Chetta, & Sunshine were part of case where 10 pigs were set for slaughter. These 5 boys were bonded so we scrambled to make a home here to keep them together. They were confined to tiny stalls living in several inches of their own excrement. No longer allowed to go outside as they continuously broke through the fence and rooted up property. Plagued by raging hormones they were easily overexcited. Joey is the most independent of the 5 boys. He does enjoy a good snuggle session but will choose grazing over the attention.

Joey currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $35 a month for exclusive updates on Joey.

Jude

Jude came to us at just 4 days old, the runt of his litter from a small farm. Often times runts are rejected, meaning they take time to hand raise and may not bring a profit leading a farmer to kill the piglet. Such is the case with Jude, he was to be killed. Thankfully a kind human stepped up to save his life and provide care while finding him a safe forever home.

Jude currently has a sponsor, but if you also feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $35 a month for exclusive updates on Jude.

Linus

Linus was 7 years old when his human dad got engaged and new humans moved into the house, Linus struggled with the changes, as pigs do. Linus showed his frustration and asserted his status with the new fiancĂ© & child. Linus’s dad reached out to Chicagoland Pig Rescue for help. They gave him information, tools & resources to work through the behavioral changes so that Linus could stay with his dad & new family. Unfortunately, his dad decided against putting in any of the work or making accommodations, and instead scheduled Linus to be euthanized. This got back to CPR and they brought Linus into their organization to foster & find permanent placement. Linus exhibited signs of aggression while in foster care. That makes placement incredibly hard. Linus’s story sat heavy with us. After lots of thought & discussion we thought NSLB would be the right fit for Linus. We have a few other curmudgeons that we hope Linus will befriend.

Linus currently has a sponsor, but if you also feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Linus.

Lucia

Little Lucia was born blind. That birth defect saved her from being raised with her siblings for consumption. Being blind doesn’t slow this girl down one bit. Luci is sweet, spunky, and very vocal. She enjoys playing in her wallow and nuzzling her humans.

Luci currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with her, you may also sign up for just $35 a month for exclusive updates on Luci.

Mae

Mae was taken in by Animal Control in an adjacent county with her friend Peter. With both being unaltered and having been together for an unknown amount of time, it is very lucky that she was not pregnant. She had clearly endured at least one pregnancy, but we’ve promised her that she will never have to do that again by having her spayed. Mae Mae suffers from some neurological issues that cause her to occasionally struggle wither her balance. She is otherwise happy, healthy, and a bit of a sassafras.

Margaret currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with her, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Marge.

Mason

Mason is our oldest resident at 10 years old. Mason was rescued at about 2 years old. He was severely obese and they did a fantastic job getting him healthy and ready for adoption. But that perfect adoptive family never came along for Mason. He lived with the rescue family happily for 8 years and was very much loved by them. Their family expanded and unfortunately Mason will not tolerate children. His rescue family did everything they could to make things work, but in the end, it was safest for everyone for Mason to find a new place to call him. While Mason is considered more middle-aged, he is the quintessential “grumpy old man”. He will happily voice his displeasure when you’ve done anything, anything… Even with his crabby disposition, he is an incredibly sweet guy that loves to snuggle up with his favorite human.

Mason currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Mason.

Miracle

Miracle was turned loose in to a field with her family SweetPea, Buttercup, and Boaris, in the middle of the winter when their humans were no longer able to feed them. Unfortunately, there’s not much opportunity for foraging or rooting during Michigan winters. Survival is near impossible without food, water, or shelter for domesticated pets. It is incredibly lucky that we were able to catch Miracle and her 2 daughters on the 1st try. Upon loading her up it was discovered she had a double prolapse. She surely would not have made it much longer on her own, and she was in an incredible amount of pain. Being Deaf & injured; her story could have easily ended. She spent a couple of weeks at MSU for repairs & healing. She was spayed once medically able so that she will not have to endure another pregnancy. She will get to live out her Natural life here with 2 daughters and partner. Miracle is a fantastic mother, always making sure her daughters are tucked in at night.

Richard

Richard came to us at 2 days old, the runt of his litter, and knuckling when he walked. He was 1lb and fit in our hand. Piglets need to eat every couple of hours around the clock. Being tiny and needy saved this boys life. Statistically, only about 5% of piglets taken from their mothers this young survive. The first few weeks were a scary journey and Richard kept us on our toes. He is now thriving and over 400lbs. He’s one of our most loving and most vocal residents. He loves a good snuggle session and he will tell you when he’s ready for it.

Richard needs a sponsor! Sign up for just $35 a month for exclusive updates on Richard.

Sheldon

Sheldon came to us emaciated, riddled with parasites, overgrown hooves, feces caked on his body, and with aggression issues. He spent the first 4+ years of his life confided in a little dog kennel sleeping in his own excrement and being starved to keep him little. Sheldon has come a long way in the time he’s been here. A hoof (and tusk) trim allowed him to start walking properly. A bath and medicine helped to clear up his skin. Slowly getting him on a proper diet allowed him to gain a bit of weight. And lots of love and patience is helping him to regain some trust in humans. Sheldon is unfortunately permanently stunted from his prior living conditions. Sheldon has come to love belly rubs and naps with his favorite human. He enjoys many hours in the field, stretching his legs and grazing.

Sheldon currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Sheldon.

Wallace came to us at about 5 months old. We were his 4th – 5th home in that short amount of time. He was being fed whatever was available, dog food, cheese, cookies, etc. Wallace is the 1st to greet visitors. He enjoys long days outside rooting and evening snuggled under the blankets.

Wallace currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Wallace.

Wanda

Wanda is one of our residents from Dominion Sanctuary. Wanda was rescued during the Indy Pig Rescue mission in June of 2019 where over 70 pigs were part of an Animal Control cruelty & neglect case and scheduled for euthanasia. Wanda is still very leery of human interaction. She sticks closely to her sister Carol.

Waylon

Waylon was part of a horrible hoarding case along with his friends, Potato, Willie, Mercer, and Bentley. Waylon is a sweet and independent boy that likes belly rubs from the humans he trusts most.

Waylon currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Waylon.

Wilbur

Wilbur was a much-loved pet along with his friends Randall, Benny, & Daisy. Unfortunately, Wilbur’s human mom had multiple events happen leading to the need to find them a new home. Wilbur is an affectionate boy. He will quietly and patiently follow you around for an opportunity to receive belly rubs.

Wilbur currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Wilbur.

Wilby

Wilby (Wilbur) is one of our residents from Dominion Sanctuary. Being blind does not slow this guy down. His original owners had him “free range” for food instead of providing a healthy diet. He is the sweetest most easy-going little love.

Wilby currently has a sponsor, but if you feel a special connection with him, you may also sign up for just $25 a month for exclusive updates on Wilby.
